Editor Add-Ons

Editor Add-Ons was an initiative created to expand Wix Studio and Wix Editor with small, focused tools that were missing from the core product.

Instead of implementing these features directly into the Editor infrastructure, we built lightweight Add-Ons that could be developed and released quickly.

I led the UX & UI design of the first 5 Add-Ons, designing experiences that feel native and fully integrated within the Editor.

The Challenge
& Exploration

Users needed small but meaningful capabilities that were missing from the Editor
Implementing each request directly in the core product would significantly slow development
Add-Ons had to feel native and fully integrated into the existing Editor experience
We needed a scalable approach that enables faster feature delivery without modifying the core system
Exploration included mapping recurring workflow gaps, identifying lightweight integration points within the Editor, and defining a consistent UX and UI structure for all Add-Ons.

1. Design Guides

Create custom layout guides and grid overlays to support precise alignment in the Editor.

2. Contrast Checker

Run real-time WCAG contrast checks and adjust colors instantly within the Editor.

3. Get Image Colors

Generate color palettes directly from selected images in the Editor.

4. Task List

Create and manage customizable task lists directly within the Editor.

5. Color selection

Sample a HEX color from any element visible on your screen

Impact & Learnings

Wix Add-Ons project demonstrated how lightweight extensions can accelerate feature delivery without increasing core system complexity. The initiative also defined scalable patterns for future integrations across Wix’s editors.
